1  Scopep. 9

The present document is a technical report capturing the study on application enablement architecture for mobile metaverse services over 3GPP networks. The aspects of the study include defining key issues and their related solutions to identify architecture requirements, application layer functional model (either by defining new functional model or by enhancing existing functional model) to support identified architectural requirements and corresponding solutions to provide enablement layer support to metaverse applications.
The study is based on the requirements as defined in TS 22.156 and related use cases in TR 22.856. The study takes into consideration the work done in other 3GPP working groups (like SA2, SA4).

2  Referencesp. 9

The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of the present document.
  • References are either specific (identified by date of publication, edition number, version number, etc.) or non-specific.
  • For a specific reference, subsequent revisions do not apply.
  • For a non-specific reference, the latest version applies. In the case of a reference to a 3GPP document (including a GSM document), a non-specific reference implicitly refers to the latest version of that document in the same Release as the present document.

3  Definitions of terms, symbols and abbreviationsp. 10

3.1  Termsp. 10

For the purposes of the present document, the terms given in TR 21.905 and the following apply. A term defined in the present document takes precedence over the definition of the same term, if any, in TR 21.905.
Avatar profile:
It is avatar specific configuration and parameters (e.g. allowed locations) applicable to one or more application(s). The avatar profile may be associated with one or more VAL user(s).
Application-Digital Asset Container Management:
An entity that securely manages the application related digital assets (e.g. avatars).
Digital Asset Identifier:
In the context of this TR, digital asset identifier is used to uniquely identify a digital asset across different mobile metaverse services.
Digital Asset Permission Management:
An entity that provides authorization service for consumers or vertical applications to operate digital assets, manages the permissions, and controls the operation of the digital assets.
Processed sensor data:
data for the Spatial mapping service to estimate the number of objects, type of the object, position, direction and speed of the object, etc.
Spatial map information:
information to be included and managed for a Spatial map.
VAL UE augmented spatial map:
spatial map augmented with VAL UE information.
Spatial anchor map:
Combine the spatial anchor information with the spatial map information.
For the purposes of the present document, the following terms given in TS 22.156 apply:
Avatar
Digital asset
Digital wallet
Spatial anchor
Spatial map
